Mexican company says will not make Tata autos
Mexican auto supplier Metalsa SA de CV said on Tuesday it is not engaged in talks with Tata Motors Ltd about making Tata vehicles in Mexico.
On Monday, the Mint, a national business daily newspaper in India, reported that Metalsa, a unit of privately held Mexican conglomerate Grupo Proeza, was in talks with Tata about building cars in Mexico. The newspaper cited two unidentified sources.
Metalsa supplies components, including body stampings and chassis frames for commercial vehicles and has a presence in 10 countries, including India. The company supplies components for Tata, but is not planning to manufacture cars in alliance with Tata in Mexico, or elsewhere, a spokesman for Metalsa said on Tuesday.
