M.I.A. Gesture Directed at Ex? Benjamin Bronfman and Rapper Have Been Living Apart
A clue has emerged in the mystery of who M.I.A. was flipping off during her infamous Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance.
M.I.A -- whose given name is Mathangi Arulpragasm -- has reportedly split from her longtime fiancé, Benjamin Bronfman. The recent news has many people suspecting that it was the father of her son who was the recipient of her gesture.
According to the Daily News, the 36-year-old London born rapper has been spending much of her time in her hometown while her now ex-fiancé, 29, and their child Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman are living in New York. Bronfman, the former guitarist for punk reggae band The Exit, is also the song of Seagram heir Edgar Bronfman Jr.
The Daily News is also reporting that M.I.A. had to get a special visa to appear with Nicki Minaj in Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show. The singer had previous trouble entering the USA due to controversial remarks that were made about conflict in her parents' native Sri Lanka as well as her father's alleged links to the terrorist group Tamil Tigers.
M.I.A's new video, Bad Girls, which was released only a few days before the Super Bowl, has been viewed more than 6 million times on YouTube since Feb 2.
