Michael Bublé Christmas: Before Son’s Cancer Diagnosis, Singer Planned Special Holiday With Family
Singer Michael Bublé opened up about his Christmas plans before his son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer. Even though the interview was filmed in October, it didn’t air on “Live! With Kelly Rippa” until Friday.
“This is a really special time of year and traditions are really important,” he said. Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, have family that comes from all over the world to celebrate with them.
“From South Africa, people come from London, Maine, Los Angeles,” Bublé said. “And they come to my house and I have a massive get-together with all of these people that have spent years with me. My best friends. And they come with my whole family from Argentina, my wife’s parents — it’s crazy. It’s like 30 people.”
One of their traditions is to play instruments. “Everybody has tambourines. And all the kids have little musical instruments,” he said. “And then the one Jewish guy in the party — Dionne is his name, from South Africa — the one Jewish man at the party knows every Christmas song ever.”
Four-year-old Noah was diagnosed with cancer in November. “Luisana and I are going to spend all our time and attention to help Noah to get better, by suspending our professional activities for now,” the Canadian songwriter said at the time. “During this difficult time, we ask that you pray for him and please respect our privacy.”
Bublé, 41, added: “We have a long road ahead of us and we hope that with the support of our family, friends, fans around the world and our faith in God, we can win this battle.”
Noah’s cancer shock came a year after he accidentally burned himself with scolding water. Lopilato, 29, was reportedly unsure how the mishap happened.
