Michael Jackson Becomes First Artist To Premiere A Music Video On Twitter
Michael Jackson, who passed away at the age of 50 in 2009, became the first musical artist to release a music video via Twitter. The song, “A Place With No Name”, was released at 10 PM EDT on Wednesday night.
Earlier this week, the Jackson Estate and Epic Records announced that a new video was coming from the deceased artist. Before the music video’s premiere, a preview of the song aired on a Michael Jackson-themed episode of competitive dance show “So You Think You Can Dance” on FOX. “A Place With No Name” was also shown on a massive screen in the middle of tourist hub Times Square in New York City.
“A Place With No Name” was originally created in 1998 and was Jackson’s version of 1970s folk rock band America’s “Horse With No Name.”
Though Jackson has been absent from the music industry for five years now, his label continues to release more of his musical content, In May, a hologram of Jackson performed during the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, and fans were impressed with realistic dance moves and believable on-stage charisma.
