Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Jacket sells for $1.8 Million at Auction
The red and black leather jacket that Michael Jackson wore while dancing in the classic Thriller video has sold for $1.8 million in an online auction.
Julien's Auctions, which oversaw the bidding, announced that the jacket was purchased Sunday by Milton Verret. Verret plans to display the jacket in the city's Dell Children's Hospital to raise more money for charities.
The jacket is one of two Jackson wore during the video of Thriller in 1983. It was put up for auction by his costume designers, Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush.
Jackson signed the jacket's inner lining with, To Bush and Dennis, All My Love, Michael Jackson. and the sleeve with Love Michael Jackson.
The auction took place the day after the two-year anniversary of Jackson's death.
