Michael Vick Injury News: Philadelphia Eagles QB Says '100 Percent' Chance He'll Play Sunday

Michael Vick, the injured Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback, told reporters Wednesday he will play this Sunday as the Eagles travel to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

I think there's a 100 percent chance I'll be out there on the field this week, Vick told reporters. ... Regardless of what I have to go through, I just want to be there.

Vick's announcement that he would start completed the turnaround of the Eagles team and fans from panicked to breathing a sigh of relief - all in just three days.

Originally, Vick was thought to have broken a bone in his right, non-throwing hand in last Sunday's home loss to the New York Giants. He was knocked out in the third quarter, and the Eagles subsequently fell to the Giants as Mike Kafka took over at quarterback for Vick.

But on Monday, a CT scan revealed that Vick had only suffered a contusion in his hand. A blood vessel over the bone obscured the results and made it appear as if Vick had broken his hand.

According to reports, Vick was able to grip the football during the Eagles' walkthrough practice Wednesday morning.

I will be out there Sunday, regardless, Vick said.

Kafka has failed to win either game during which he replaced Vick. If, for the third straight week, Vick cannot make it through an entire game, free-agent acquisition Vince Young may be ready to take on the role of the backup. Young suffered a hamstring strain in a preseason game against the New York Jets. Eagles head coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that Young is 100 percent. He did not officially name a backup quarterback, however.
