Michelle Branch got candid about her relationship with her husband Patrick Carney after their marital crisis in the past weeks.
Branch, 39, spoke about her relationship with Carney, 42, after all the troubles they went through last month. According to her, they started therapy and immediately noticed the difference.
"My husband and I have started therapy recently, and I wish that we had started it six months ago. I wish that we had gotten help and talked to someone sooner," she told Tamron Hall on Thursday's episode of her talk show, People reported. "It's made such a huge difference in such a short amount of time. If there's anyone out there watching ... this is your sign. If you've been thinking about it, go talk to someone."
She continued, "It's helped us immensely. The night ... what went down is so unfortunate. It was the worst night of my life. And then to have it out in the world as I'm about to put out a record has been a lot, but all I can do is just be honest about what I'm going through and what's going on. I'm not the first person to have gone through this."
There was trouble in paradise for Branch and Carney. In a since-deleted tweet shared last month, the singer-songwriter accused her husband of cheating on her and announced their split while talking about moving forward.
"Just found out my husband cheated on me with ___ while I was home with our 6-month daughter," she tweeted.
She was also arrested for slapping Carney. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed the arrest on probable cause for domestic assault.
The "Everywhere" singer talked about the night in question and admitted that she hit her husband.
"They are not allegations! Violence ... I don't condone violence. I slapped my husband. Not the finest moment of my life," she said, per People.
She admitted that what happened was among the things when she asked herself, "Is this really happening?" She also admitted to thinking about probably not sharing the since-deleted tweet.
Branch is seven months postpartum. She and Carney welcomed 7-month-old daughter Willie Jacquet earlier this year. The couple also shares a son, Rhys James, 4. The "All You Wanted" singer added that it was "unfortunate that it took this horrible, traumatic event to hopefully [move forward."
"My husband and I are like, 'How we were going was unsustainable. Maybe this will give us the tools to have a stronger marriage than we've ever had.' We're rolling up our sleeves and doing the work, which never sounds like fun, but we're doing it," Branch added.
Branch and Carney called off their divorce. According to the court documents obtained by Page Six, the couple agreed to work on their marriage for six months, and they will then decide whether to "reinstitute" the divorce proceedings or dismiss them for good.
