  • Michelle Obama was thrilled to film an episode with the cast of “Black-ish”
  • The former first lady is excited for fans to see her guest appearance in the series
  • The ABC comedy is wrapping up after its eighth and final season next year

“Black-ish” is going out with a bang next year, with the show announcing that Michelle Obama will be one of the A-list guest stars appearing in its final season.

The ABC comedy revealed on Twitter Thursday that the former first lady is going to be part of the eighth and final season of “Black-ish.” Sharing a snap of the cast with Barack Obama’s wife, the official account of the series said that they are “honored to have trailblazer [Michelle Obama] join us as an upcoming guest star.”

The post was quickly met with a flurry of positive responses from fans who were surprised but excited to see the episode in which Obama will be featured.

“‘Black-ish’ [is] the best. Those talented young [people] have really evolved and grown [into] wonderful actors/human beings. Great writing. Great show,” one wrote.

“Now THAT is what makes a great show in its final season awesome,” another user added.

Obama also shared the post on her Twitter account and expressed her excitement for the fans to see the episode she filmed with the cast.

“I’ve long been a fan of @BlackishABC’s wit and all-around brilliance, and it was such a thrill to join in for an episode. I can’t wait for you all to see it!” she wrote.

This wouldn’t be the first time for Obama to appear on a comedy show. While her husband was still president, she made a guest appearance in the season finale of “Parks and Recreation,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Obama isn’t the first political figure to show up in the series as Stacey Abrams, Eric Garcetti and former Obama adviser David Axelrod also made guest appearances in the past.

“Black-ish,” which was renewed for its final season back in May, has always shown its appreciation of the former first couple as observed in the Johnson family’s discussions about the Obamas in the previous installments.

In the Season 2 episode “Hope,” Anthony Anderson’s character Andre “Dre” Johnson gave a stellar monologue on the emotions he felt while watching the former president walk alongside a limousine during his inauguration, as pointed out by Collider.

“Black-ish” is returning with Season 8 sometime in 2022. The episode in which Obama will appear has yet to be revealed.
