Michelle Obama previously shared what it’s like being friends with her two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
Since their dad, Barack Obama, was the former president of the United States, and their family lived in the White House, Michelle said that it was quite stressful to be friends with her kids.
While speaking with CBS News, the ex-FLOTUS said that Malia and Sasha were always accompanied by secret service agents wherever they went. In fact, before they get to their friends’ house for a sleepover, the secret service agents call the parents to ask important questions.
“It’s like, 'Hello. OK, we’re going to need your Social Security number, we’re going to need your date of birth. There are going to be men coming to sweep your house. If you have guns and drugs, just tell them yes because they are going to find them anyway. Don’t lie,” Michelle said.
The former first lady said that the secret service agents won’t keep the guns while Malia and Sasha were at their friends’ homes. However, they still need to know where they are being kept.
Additionally, a man with a gun would be sitting outside the property while Barack and Michelle’s kids are there.
Meanwhile, the Obamas tried to raise their daughters to be as grounded as possible. Even though their dad was the president of the country, Michelle constantly reminded Malia and Sasha that their father’s role had nothing to do with them.
Their job, therefore, was to go to school and study hard. And even they are always surrounded by secret service agents, Malia and Sasha were reminded that they need to ignore them.
In related news, now that the Obamas are no longer living at the White House, Malia and Sasha are able to lead simpler lives. The sisters are both in college, but they are studying at different schools.
Last Christmas, the Obamas reunited for a short celebration, but Malia, 21, flew to London to be with her boyfriend, Rory Farquharson, before returning to Harvard.
