KEY POINTS

  • Michelle Obama likely to win Grammys
  • Barack  Obama only summoned his wife Michelle to his office at the White House once
  • Michelle Obama might run for president

Michelle Obama is likely to follow her husband Barack Obama’s victory at the Grammys.

The former first lady of the United States is nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for her memoir “Becoming.” According to Daniel Montgomery, senior editor for Gold Derby, Michelle has a high chance of beating the other nominees because “it’s pretty common for politicians to win Grammys.”

Montgomery said that it’s less common for a U.S. president and first lady to prevail. However, it is likely to happen in 2020.

Michelle’s husband Barack won his first Grammy in 2006 for “Dream’s from My Father” when he was just a senator. He was given the same recognition in 2008 for “Audacity of Hope” a few months before he won the presidency.

At present, Michelle is the only political figure nominated in the category and she leads the official predictions with 10/3 odds. The figure was calculated by combining the forecasts of all Gold Derby users who have registered to make their bets in the predictions center.

Michelle’s biggest threat is the “Beastie Boys Book” which was recorded by various artists and produced by surviving Beastie Boys members Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz. Scott Sherratt and Dan Zitt are also part of it. Despite the close competition, Montgomery is convinced that Michelle could win due to her political background.

“But politics often take precedence,” Montgomery wrote.

He noted that President Jimmy Carter has won three. Senators Everett Dirksen and Al Franken also shared the same victory. If Michelle would win, the Obamas will not be the first couple to take home matching Grammys because ex-POTUS Bill Clinton and ex-FLOTUS Hillary Clinton did it before them with “My Life” (2005) and “It Takes a Village” (1997), respectively.

In her memoir “Becoming,” Michelle made several revelations about her marriage to Barack and their family.

Michelle shared that Barack only summoned her to his office once. It happened following the shooting incident at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut that killed 20 first graders and six educators. When she walked into his office, they didn’t say a word, they just embraced each other.

In related news, David Krayden is convinced that Michelle might run for president. According to him, the Obamas are “making another bid for power.”
