But the American people are not only saying goodbye to a beloved president, they are saying goodbye to one of the most fashionable first ladies in U.S. history. At her first Inaugural Ball as the president's wife in 2009, Michelle set the style bar high when she wowed, wearing a white custom gown b American designer Jason Wu. For the 2013 Inaugural Ball, she turned to the American designer yet again, wearing a custom halter-neck scarlet chiffon gown with velvet, accessorized with Jimmy Choo shoes, a ring by Kimberly McDonald and Kimberly McDonald for Forevermark Diamond bangles.
So it was no surprise that for her husband's farewell address, Michelle decided to chose to wear Jason Wu yet again, only this look was a bit more understated. FLOTUS chose a custom dark grey lace dress styled with a Narcisa Pheres ring, Harry Kolar studs and a Hearts on Fire ring.
Malia, 18, was also perfectly polished for the event wearing Cinq a Sept's $395 black and white Seaphina dress styled with black tights, black boots and simple, trendy choker necklace.
The Obama's younger daughter, Sasha, 15, did not attend the farewell event as she was busy studying for an exam.
