Michelle Obama’s $50,000 ‘Undies Shopping’: White House in Denial
Michelle Obama is going the Kate Middleton way, promoting retailer sales and at the same time making some big purchases herself, it has been reported.
The First Lady is said to have visited a luxury lingerie boutique in New York and also made a handsome purchase. According to reports, she spent more than $50,000 buying undies at the British lingerie giant Agent Provocateur's Madison Avenue store.
The visit contributed to a 12 percent rise in sales. Madison Avenue was partially closed for Obama, the report added.
The store's bosses, however, refused to divulge the details of the visit, but only said that there were some famous names, according to the Telegraph.
Garry Hogarth, Agent Provocateur's chief executive, has been quoted by the paper as saying: This is a real luxury brand. But now it is also being run with a strong business discipline. That has meant a lot of changes to the finance team, merchandising and production and planning. It also means negotiating on every rental contract - which is more than possible in this market.
Meanwhile, the White House has strongly denied the entire story. This story is 100% false, Kristina Schake, director of communications for the first lady, told MailOnline.
