Michelle Rodriguez Mourns Paul Walker: 'I'm Gonna Carry This Torch For You Brother,' She Says After Fatal Car Crash
Michelle Rodriguez is the latest celebrity to mourn the tragic death of “Fast & Furious” actor Paul Walker. Rodriguez, 35, was his co-star in the popular film franchise.
“I'm gonna carry this torch for you brother, with a forced smile on my face and Im gonna open my heart just cause your telling me to [sic],” she wrote on Twitter to her nearly 600,000 followers. Rodriguez, like the rest of the cast, was in the midst of shooting the seventh film in the franchise when Walker died on Saturday afternoon in a car crash in Valencia, Calif.
Walker, 40, was riding in a Porsche Carrera GT driven by Roger Rodas when it crashed into a tree and burst into flames, killing both men.
Rodas, 38, was Walker’s business partner and a co-owner of the car customization store Always Evolving in Santa Clarita, where the two has just attended a charity event. Since Saturday, there have been claims that the crash may have been caused by a steering malfunction, but that has yet to be confirmed. According to reports, the bodies of both victims were too badly burned for visual identification.
Walker’s other "Fast & Furious" co-stars also expressed their condolences, with Vin Diesel tweeting over the weekend, “Brother, I will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wrote, “All my strength, love & faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find out strength... in his light. Love you brother.”
Jordana Brewster, who played his love interest in “Fast and Furious,” paid tribute to him on Sunday, saying, “Paul was pure light. I cannot believe he is gone.”
Tyrese Gibson also wrote on Twitter this past weekend, “My heart is hurting so bad no one can make me believe this is real Father God I pray that you send clarity over this cause I just don’t understand My heart hurts it’s broken no one can convince me that this is real…. Prayer warriors please pray real hard for his only child, his daughter and family… #HeartOfAnAngel13YrsFamilyForeverWeJustCelebreatedYour40thBirthday….. My God… My God… I can’t believe I’m writing this [sic].” He and Vin Diesel later visited the car crash site and thanked the fans who gathered around for their support during this time.
