Love is in the air for Michelle Williams and Jason Segel.

The new couple was spotted over the weekend after eating at Brooklyn restaurant, Frankie's Spuntino, looking all sorts of smitten.

He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked . . . [they] seemed very relaxed, a witness told Us Weekly.

The Oscar-nominated Williams, 31, has actually been friends with Segel, 32, for years, through his Freaks and Geeks costar Busy Phillips. Phillips is also best friends with Williams, after working on two seasons of Dawson's Creek. The 32-year-old actress is also the godmother of Matilda, Williams' 6-year-old daughter with the late Heath Ledger.

With Segel's recent rocket of a ride to fame (thanks to The Muppets, the upcoming Jeff, Who Lives at Home, The Five-Year Engagement, This Is Forty and oh, seven seasons of How I Met Your Mother), it seems that Williams, too, has also caught Jason Segel fever.

Segel was spotted in Brooklyn the very next day, this time taking part in a different stroll -- taking Matilda for a scooter expedition.

With Segel living in Los Angeles and Williams working based in the east coast, a source told Us Weekly that they will still try to make it work . . . she hasn't been this happy in a long time.

After meeting on the set of Brokeback Mountain, Williams and Ledger began a high-profile relationship, before calling it quits in 2007. In January 2008, the Australian actor was found dead in his New York City apartment, following an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Williams later dated director Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) for about one year.

Segel's new romance with Williams is perhaps his first high profile Hollywood relationship.

Other than admitting that his 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall was loosely based on his own life experiences, Segel has been successful at staying away from dating famous people. In January, Segel made headlines when he accepted a date proposal from a young fan named Chelsea Gill. Gill's video proposal went viral and eventually reached Segel, who re-tweeted a link and had his publicist arrange a meet-up.
