Mickey is getting a new friend in Season 2, episode 2 of “The Mick.”

According to the synopsis for next week’s episode of the Fox series, Alba (Carla Jimenez) feels left out when Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) becomes friends with a Greenwich divorcee at rock bottom named Trish (Michaela Watkins). And when Mickey sends Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) over to help Trish with some home repairs, Mickey starts to question just how casual her relationship with him really is. Meanwhile, Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and Ben (Jack Stanton) take a shot at Chip's (Thomas Barbusca) ego.

Olson, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month that Trish’s introduction in Season 2 will lead Mickey to reevaluate her relationship with Jimmy. “I wanted to make sure we explored the Mickey-Jimmy relationship this year, because I think it’s such an interesting dynamic,” Olson said.

In fact, Olson recently revealed that there’s an upcoming episode that will reveal new details about Mickey and Jimmy’s past. “We’re actually shooting an episode this season where we go back to Warwick, so you can see where Jimmy and Mickey come from, who their old friends are,” the actress told TVLine. “I’ve been wanting to look into their backstory for a bit.”

Series co-creators Dave and John Chernin added that “there’s a lot of high and lows in the Jimmy-Mickey romance” in the new season.

Watkins is expected to return for more episodes later in the season as her role as Trish is a recurring one.

In addition to her series regular role as Valerie in Hulu’s “Casual,” Watkins is also known for her performance as Jackie Fisher in ABC’s short-lived but critically acclaimed sitcom “Trophy Wife.” The 45-year-old actress has also guest starred on TBS’ “The Guest Book,” ABC’s “Speechless” and TV Land’s “Nobodies.”

Aside from her recurring stint on “The Mick,” Watkins can also be seen next in the comedy film “Antiquities,” romance flick “Under the Eiffel Tower” and comedy-drama movie “Dude,” which are all set to be released sometime this year.

“The Mick” Season 2, episode 2, titled “The Friend,” airs on Tuesday Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
