Microsoft Exec Seemingly Confirmed Xbox Series X Release Date
KEY POINTS
- Xbox Series X was launched at The Game Awards last year
- The company, however, did not announce the specific release date of the Xbox Series X
- A new information surfaced recently claiming that the next-generation gaming console might drop on Nov 2020
Microsoft's next-generation gaming console, the Xbox Series X, might arrive in November. The Redmond-based tech company launched the console last year at The Game Awards, but it failed to reveal its specific release window and price. It appears that the latest statement of the company's executive confirmed the rumors that the industry would be seeing Xbox Series X a couple of months before 2020 ends.
Xbox Series X Release Window
The latest information about the release window of Microsoft's Xbox Series X comes from Bloomberg's News Tech Reporter Dina Bass. On her official Twitter account, Bass shared that Microsoft CFO Amy Hood says that the Xbox Series X is still on track for the holiday's launch in November. It turned out that the executive was responding to Bass's question during the investor call.
Tom Warren's The Verge asked for further clarification if the CFO specifically said November for Xbox Series X. Bass answered, "It was in response to a question from me and I said 'new console' and 'November holidays.' Her answer was the single word yes." The November release window is not surprising, considering that the Xbox One was launched in Nov 2013.
Other Xbox Series X Details
Officially, Microsoft has not yet revealed the Xbox Series X's specific release date. Until now, it sticks to the holiday 2020 release window. Interestingly, some fans believed that the company might announce the console's specific release date today at the Xbox Games Showcase. However, Xbox has repeatedly said that the event would solely focus on new games and gameplays.
Aside from the Xbox Series X, fans are also anticipating that Microsoft would launch the heavily-rumored Xbox Series S. Rumors have it that the console is the second next-generation hardware releasing alongside the Xbox Series X. It is reportedly much affordable and less powerful compared to the premium gaming console.
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has remained silent about the Xbox Series S despite leaks and references giving credence to the console's existence. Since these are not yet official, it is smarter to take these details with a good measure of skepticism.
