Microsoft gains U.S. search share: comScore
Microsoft Corp's new Bing search engine continued to take share from Google Inc, grabbing 9.3 percent of the U.S. Internet search market in August, according to data released on Monday.
Microsoft's August performance was up from 8.9 percent in July, according to a research note from JPMorgan, which cited data from industry tracker comScore. Microsoft, which launched Bing in early June, is No. 3 in the market.
Bing launched in June and has gained share every month since.
Google, although still far and away the search leader, saw its share in the United States decline 0.1 percentage points to 64.6 percent in August.
No. 2 Yahoo Inc posted a market share of 19.3 percent in August, unchanged from July.
ComScore said overall U.S. search market volume rose 15.5 percent from July and 19.2 percent from last year.
