Microsoft Lumia 950 vs. Google Nexus 5X: Comparison of Specs, Features And Price
The Lumia 950, the flagship smartphone from Microsoft has been officially unveiled. It goes without saying that Microsoft has unleashed the Lumia 950 to rival the likes of the iPhone 6S and the Nexus 5X through its unmatched features.
The Nexus 5X is an enhanced version of the immensely popular LG Nexus 5 that was released in 2013. Hence, there is huge a demand for the Nexus 5X. Here is a comparison of the specifications, features and pricing between the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the Google Nexus 5X.
Design And Display
The dimensions of the Lumia 950 are 145 x 73.2 x 8.2 mm and it weighs 150 grams. The LG Nexus 5X, on the other hand, measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm. It is lighter than the Lumia 950 as it weighs 136 grams. Both the handsets feature polycarbonate chassis indicating that they are the scaled-down and cheaper editions of the Lumia 950 XL and Google Nexus 6P handsets.
The Lumia 950 as well as the Nexus 5X feature a 5.2-inch display. However, the Microsoft’s product supports Quad HD resolution on its OLED display whereas the Nexus 5X supports full HD resolution on its IPS LCD display.
Chipset, RAM And Storage
The Snapdragon 808 chipset featuring 1.8 GHz six-core processor is another common factor between both handsets. The Lumia 950 features 3 GB of RAM and internal storage capacity of 32 GB. Its expandable storage supports up to 200 GB of microSD.
The LG Nexus 5X features 2 GB of RAM. LG has not included a microSD card slot on the device, but it is available inbuilt two storage flavors of 16 GB and 32 GB.
Camera, Software And Unique Features
The Microsoft Lumia 950 is fitted a rear camera of 20-megapixel driven by PureView technology. It also features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and triple LED flash. The camera present on the front panel of the handset is of 5-megapixel.
There is a 12.3-megapixel rear camera on the Nexus 5X that is enabled with dual-LED. It lacks the OIS feature. It also features a selfie shooter of 5-megapixel.
The Windows 10 Mobile powered Lumia 950 features iris scanner biometric security feature. The Continuum feature of the operating system allows user to get full-fledged PC experience by connecting the handset, a monitor, a keyboard and mouse to a docking station, Phone Arena reported.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings inbuilt support for the fingerprint sensor present at the rear side of the Nexus 5X. Through Android Pay, users can make wireless payments by using the fingerprint scanner.
Battery And Price
There is a removable battery of 3,000 mAh inside the Lumia 950 whereas the Nexus 5X has a non-removable battery of 2,700 mAh capacity. Both the handsets feature USB Type-C connector for Quick charging and data transfer. The Lumia 950 supports wireless charging, a feature that is unavailable on the Nexus 5X.
The unlocked 32 GB Lumia 950 will be released in the market with a pricing of $549. The Nexus 5X is cheaper as it costs only $349 for the 16 GB model and $429 for the 32 GB variant.
