Microsoft to Open Windows Mobile Marketplace for Developers July 27
Microsoft is going to open its 'Windows Marketplace Business Center' for Developers on July 27, this year. The announcement was made in an ongoing Worldwide Partner Conference event in New Orleans.
Developers can start submitting their application upon the opening of the market place which will give them the opportunity to reach more than 30 million Windows Mobile devices, according to Microsoft.
The firm is also extending its support for later version of Windows Mobile. Windows Marketplace opening this fall will only be available for Windows Mobile 6.5 but later at the end of this year it will open the availability for Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 versions.
In addition to announcement, Microsoft is also planning to disclose the Windows Marketplace developer contest on July 27 as part of its program.
Later this month we'll also be announcing the details of a developer contest that will kick off at launch, said Todd Brix Senior Director for Mobile Platform Services Product Management, Microsoft.
The opening of Windows Marketplace Business Center will initially be available to 29 supported countries Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Later after the launching in 29 countries, the company will also be extending to other markets but did not did disclose any details.
