Microsoft released a beta version of Exchange Server 2010 enabling users to familiarize themselves with new features and capability, while also helping the company find problems.

The new version of Microsoft's email server, which will be available in the second half of this year, is built around a hybrid design that will form the infrastructure for a hosted email service at home or at the office.

“This release raises the bar with new archiving and end-user innovations that will help companies save money and employees save time, said Rajesh Jha, corporate vice president of Exchange at Microsoft.

The Exchange Server 2010 introduces a personal e-mail archive to address compliance and regulatory needs by making mail easier to manage and search across an organization and frees up space on production servers and improves performance.

“Exchange 2010 ushers in the next generation of Microsoft unified communications software as the first server designed from inception to work both on-premises and as an online service,” Jha said

Additionally, the Exchange Server 2010 has unified messaging solution providing text preview of voice mail messages helping a users to read and act accordingly.

Through the beta released the firm promise an integrated email archive, lower storage costs, improved productivity and a consistent Outlook experience across PC, mobile phone and browser.
