Microsoft Surface Book 2 Release Date Rumors: Delay In Launch Indicates Significantly Improved Device Under Construction
Microsoft is rumored to be working on upgraded editions of Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book that were launched in the last quarter of 2015. There are plenty of speculations regarding the Surface Book 2 release date as Microsoft seems to be delayed due to technical problems.
One of the reasons why the Redmond giant is delaying the release of Surface Book 2 is that it is waiting for the release of Intel’s next generation Kaby Lake processors. Rumors have it that the Surface Book 2 will be powered by this new processor, University Herald reported. However, the chipset has not been officially announced by Intel.
The Surface Book 2 is also speculated to launch with a costlier price tag compared to the predecessor model. The reason behind it is that the 2-in-1 device is expected to come with upgraded specifications. The Redmond giant is rumored to increase the storage size to 1 TB. It is also speculated to arrive with a larger display of 13.5 inches. The Surface Book 2 is also speculated to be available in an Intel Core i7 variant.
Rumors have it that the Windows 10 Redstone 2 is slated to be available by early 2017. The Surface Book 2 is heavily to come preinstalled with the new OS. It also pegged to feature an improved version of Surface Pen.
The first generation Surface Book encountered various kinds of problems such as frequent shutdowns, overheating, battery performance issues and more. Microsoft is rumored to be delaying the Surface Book 2 release date to ensure that the upcoming device is not plagued such problems.
Microsoft and its retailing partners have started offering attractive discounts on Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. It indicates that the company is clearing the existing stocks of these devices so that their successor models can be introduced.
