  • Microsoft has faced several delays in releasing some of its products because of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Many think that the Microsoft Surface Duo might be delayed
  • A new claim reveals that Microsoft Surface Duo might arrive next month

The current global health crisis caused by the coronavirus has negatively affected many releases. The Redmond-based tech giant Microsoft was forced to postpone the launch of Windows 10X. While many think that the company might delay the release of the dual-display Surface Duo, it seems like this is not going to be the case as a new leak claims it might even arrive ahead of schedule.

The latest rumor about the Microsoft Surface Duo came from Windows Central's Zac Bowden. On his Twitter account, he shared that the Redmond-based tech giant would like to get ahead of the release of the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. The industry anticipates that the South Korean tech giant might release the Galaxy Fold's sequel in the early part of Aug with the launch possibly happening on Aug 5, 2020.

Bowden added that if plans don't change, the industry could see the Microsoft Surface Duo begins shipping in less than a couple of months. A quick check at the official website of Microsoft reveals that the Surface Duo is still set to arrive sometime in the holiday of 2020, probably in November or December. In Feb 2020, Windows Central reported that the Redmond tech giant would like to launch the dual-display device in Summer, considering that both the software and hardware are almost done.

In March, Microsoft Corporate Vice President Of Communication shared an image on Twitter of his home office. The photo showed the Surface Book and a white Surface Duo. The upcoming dual-display device comes with a couple of 5.6-inch display panels that can extend into one 8.3-inch panel.

Microsoft will get back into the smartphone market with a new kind of folding device call Surface Duo, which will be launched next year and will be compatible with Android apps from tech rival Google's mobile operating system

Like the rumored foldable iPhone, the Microsoft Surface Duo comes with two unique displays connected by a hinge. The upcoming device is anticipated to house Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with 64 GB storage and 5 GB of RAM. The Redmond-based tech giant does not classify the Surface Duo as a phone and instead calls it a device that makes calls and runs on Android.

Microsoft has not yet issued a statement if there are changes in the release window of the Surface Duo. It is safer to take this latest information about Microsoft's dual-display device with a good measure of salt.
