A new leak reveals key specs belonging to Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Laptop 3, which is expected to be announced during an event scheduled to happen next month.

Previous reports revealed that Microsoft is working on, and might be launching, a 15-inch Surface Laptop 3. A new report from WinFuture confirmed this and also revealed the key specs that the new device will have once released.

According to the German-speaking tech site (via Wccftech), a document coming from an anonymous source reveals that there will be different Surface Laptop 3 configurations spread across different price ranges.

There will be entry level models that will appeal to the budget conscious as well as top-of-the-line models that will appeal to power users with deep pockets. The document also revealed that all Surface Laptop 3 models will feature AMD processors instead of Intel processors.

First, the entry level models are expected to have a four-core AMD processor, believed to be the Ryzen 5 3550U or the Ryzen 7 3750U, both backed by 8GB of RAM. These will be priced at around $999 and $1,099, respectively.

Next, the document reveals that there will be two models with six-core AMD Ryzen chips, backed by 12GB of RAM. These devices will priced according to CPU and SSD size, but will cost around $1,399 for the base model and $1,599 for the maxed out model.

Lastly, there will be two Surface Laptop 3 models that will be powered by eight-core AMD Ryzen chips and 16GB of RAM. Pricing will depend, again, on the CPU and SSD size, but will range from $1,999 to $2,399.

The report confirms that the new Surface Laptop 3 models will have 15-inch displays with 3:2 aspect ratio. The devices are also expected to come with thin bezels. Previous reports said the device’s display could have 4K resolution and an additional graphics unit.

Interestingly, AMD hasn’t launched six- or eight-core Ryzen processors yet. If the report proves true, then it means that AMD will be releasing the said chips and Microsoft is honored as the exclusive launch partner. The two companies, however, haven’t said anything of the sort just yet, and thus it’s best to take the leak with a grain of salt.
