Mike Pompeo’s net worth is around $800,000, but he is one of the highest paid annually under the Trump administration.
Pompeo serves as the Secretary of State and he receives a $203,500 salary per year. When compared to other members of the administration, the Secretary of State has a bigger salary than Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Mark Meadows who each receive a $183,000 annual salary, per NJ.com. Kellyanne Conway, senior adviser Stephen Miller, Melania Trump, chief of staff Stephanie Grisham, counselor to the president Hope Hicks, Larry Kudlow, Pasquale Cipollone and Brian Jack all fall into the same pay bracket with McEnany and Meadows.
President Trump has a reported annual salary of $400,000 while members of his family who serve under the administration, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are reportedly receiving no salaries.
Pompeo is a lawyer by profession and had served five years in the army. Thanks to his service, he is entitled to $350,000 federal pension, which is by far the largest among his assets. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he sold his Wichita, Kansas residence in 2017 for $726,000.
Forbes reported that joining Pompeo on the list of White House cabinet members in the lower end of the net worth spectrum is vice president Mike Pence, with an estimated fortune of $1 million, and Kevin McAleenan, with $800,000. The richest members of the cabinet are Secretary of Education Betsy Devos with $2 billion, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross’ $600 million and Steven Mnuchin’s $400 million.
On the personal side, the Orange, California native is married to Susan Pompeo and they have a son, Nicholas Pompeo. The 56-year-old politician was a U.S. Military Academy graduate and earned his law degree at Harvard University.
For six years, he was a member of the House of Representatives at Kansas’ 4th District and also served as a Central Intelligence Agency director. Pompeo was appointed in April 2018, replacing former secretary of state Rex Tillerson.
He made the headlines over his recent comments that more countries should foster ties with Israel after an agreement was signed between Israel and the UAE. The U.S. is looking to broker new negotiations between Israel and other Arab countries such as Bahrain, Oman and Sudan in the coming days.
The U.S. has a pending transaction of selling fighter planes to the UAE, a deal which the Israel government opposes. Meanwhile, the Palestinians, who enjoyed the support of UAE in the past, have called the new ties with Israel an act of betrayal from the Arab country.
