Miley Cyrus Coming Out As Bisexual: How She Feels About Being ‘Macho’ When Dating Women
After Miley Cyrus revealed to Paper magazine she was bisexual last week, she talked to Time magazine about the differences in dating women. She said different people brought out different things in her in an article published Monday.
One of the things she realized was the “overly macho” energy men have. "That made me feel like I had to be a femme-bot, which I'm not," she told the magazine. "And then when I was with a girl, I felt like, 'Oh s---, she's going to need someone to protect her, so I'm going to need to have this macho energy.' And that didn't feel right either."
But protection isn’t a trait she solely identifies with males. "I don't associate men and protection necessarily," she said. "I think that's what's given me the openness of sexuality. Not that my dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] wasn't an awesome protector, but I trust my mom [Tish] to save me. She's the prince. I never had that fairy tale."
Cyrus explained she told her mother at a young age she was bisexual. “I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys," Cyrus told Paper last week. "And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn't want me to be judged, and she didn't want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any God. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has."
When it comes to physical attraction, Cyrus said she is looking for something deeper. "F------ is easy. You can find someone to f--- in five seconds," she told Time. "We want to find someone we can talk to. And be ourselves with. That's fairly slim pickings."
Cyrus is working on her fifth studio album, but it’s unlikely it will be released this year, an insider told Hollywood Life. “She is recording, trying out new music, but she doesn’t anticipate to have a new album this year. She may drop a single here and there but she wants to have an album that surpasses 'Bangerz' and she knows that will take some time to achieve,” the source said. “It is a major process that she wants to end up being perfect!” A new song, “Nightmare,” leaked last week, and it was reminiscent of “Wrecking Ball,” off her 2013 album, “Bangerz.”
