Miley Cyrus On Liam Hemsworth Split: 'I Was So Scared Of Ever Being Alone'
Liam Hemsworth was rumored to want to get back with twerking sensation Miley Cyrus, but the “Wrecking Ball” starlet is ready to move on -- for now at least. The 21-year-old former Disney star sat down with veteran journalist Barbara Walters for an exclusive interview for “Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.” Cyrus dished on all things love -- most notably about her fizzled relationship with the Australian hunk.
The one-time “Hannah Montana” star told Walters her relationship with the 23-year-old “Hunger Games” sensation moved too fast and they stayed together for as long as they did because she was hesitant to be single again.
"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," the singer said, as the interview was quoted by Us Weekly. "I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself." The two met on the set of the movie “The Last Song” in 2009. After three years of dating, they were engaged. Cyrus was just 19. But the superstar doesn’t have any regrets when it comes to her former lover.
"I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," Cyrus said, especially since she had a good time wearing that special piece of jewelry that most women crave.
"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years,” she said about the ring Hemsworth gave her. "But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."
But just because her relationship with Hemsworth didn’t work out, that doesn’t mean she won’t want to marry one day. "I think I'll want that in the time that it needs to be," she said.
Check out Cyrus’ interview when it airs on “Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” Wednesday on ABC at 9:30 p.m. EST.
