After going through a lot of rough patches during their marriage, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have finally ended their marriage legally after a Los Angeles judge signed off on their divorce finalisation on Tuesday.

In documents obtained by E! News, the judge made it clear that Cyrus and Hemsworth will not be deemed "single" until Feb. 22. After the divorce, a source close to the "Hunger Games" actor noted that it came as a relief for both parties since they can now focus on their careers.

The insider further stated that the procedure of their separation went smoothly because of their prenup and the couple is happy to move on with their lives with their current partners.

"They are happy to close this chapter of their lives," the source said.

The "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker and Hemsworth started their relationship in 2009 when they met each other on the set of their movie "The Last Song." At that time, Liam was new to the industry while Cyrus was a household name thanks to her Disney show “Hannah Montana.”

The couple was in an on-again, off-again relation ship for 10 years when they decided to tie the knot.

But Cyrus shocked everyone when she issued a statement that she and the "Expendables" star have decided to separate. Their decision to break up was made, so that they could focus on themselves, personally and professionally.

Hemsworth did not know anything about their separation and only got to know about it through social media. According to Page Six, the 29-year-old actor found out about his separation from the “We Can't Stop” hitmaker through social media and was completely “blindsided” by the announcement.

The rumors of their crumbling relationship started to surface online when Cyrus was seen kissing Kaitlynn Carter just hours after the announcement.

The fans were really shocked to see her kissing Brody Jenner’s ex-wife and accused her of cheating.

A source told US Weekly that Hemsworth wanted to work things out, but the pictures of Cyrus kissing her rumored girlfriend just ended all the possibilities.

The "Don't Call Me Angel" singer is now dating Aussie singer Cody Simpson, while Hemsworth is linked to model Gabriella Brooks.
