Miley Cyrus Reveals Reason Behind Split From Liam Hemsworth, 'I Have Nothing To Hide'
Miley Cyrus doesn't care what you think of her -- as long as you don't think she's a liar. The singer-songwriter set the record straight about her past, drug-use, and rumors she cheated on her (soon to be ex) husband Liam Hemsworth.
"I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time," the 26-year-old tweeted Thursday morning. "What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide."
Cyrus continued the thread by admitting the mistakes she's made in the past, including cheating, losing a Walmart deal for "ripping a bong" and getting kicked off a family-friendly project for "buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it." However, the "Slide Away" performer went on to explain that that's all in the past and she's learned from it.
"But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here," she wrote. "I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP."
Cyrus added, "I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will."
"The Last Song" actress then set the record straight on her choice to move forward without Hemsworth, writing, "BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind."
At the end of the day, the former Disney Channel star wanted fans to know that she's doing what makes her happy. And while people may call her "a twerking, pot smoking , foul mouthed hillbilly," she says she is not a liar.
Cyrus ended the Twitter rant by patting herself on the back, saying, "I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was [sic] younger."
Hemsworth filed for divorce from Cyrus on Wednesday after less than a year of marriage. Although the court documents cite "irreconcilable differences," many speculated that it was infidelity on Cyrus' part, which she has denied.
