Former Disney star Miley Cyrus was slammed with death threats on Twitter before the Oscars this past Sunday. Taking to her own Twitter, the 19-year-old actress and singer decided to put her foot down on cyber bullies and death hoaxes.

Cyrus was being harassed on Twitter, with user @TheCyrusSlut writing that starlet dresses like white trash and os so f-king hideous. Deciding to take a stance against her haters, Cyrus tweeted I wont tolerate someone telling me 2 die. I think Twitter needs to take some responsibility and make it a safe environment.

A similar situation occurred this past weekend with Rihanna. A user on twitter, Jaree Strozier tweeted at the singer, I gotta admit, I lost alot of respect for @rihanna. Making a song w/ the dude that beat your face off is not a good look.

Rihanna took a hit back at Strozier when she sent out a tweet referring to the girls avatar, @JuhReeV neither is your avi #clapback. The twitter war went back and forth with Rihanna sending out a final tweet writing U Mad? #No1Currrrr.

Cyrus decided to take a different route in against her cyber bullies, with her responses getting over 50 retweets. U have nothing better 2 do than hate? That saddens me, the star tweeted, I'm surrounded by love Im sorry 4 whatever happened 2 make u so bitter.

Luckily for Miley Cyrus, her fans seem to outweigh her haters. Cyrus fans, also known as Smilers, have taken over the trending twitter topic #mileyhaters to defend the star.
