Miley Cyrus Wanted To Stop Playing 'Hannah Montana' For This Reason
While Miley Cyrus got her start as "Hannah Montana," she didn’t always want to play the part. For the 26-year-old singer, things began to change after she lost her virginity.
According to an interview with ELLE magazine, Cyrus started to feel ridiculous” playing the role after having sex.
The Cyrus told the news outlet, “once I was 18 because it felt ridiculous. The minute I had sex, I was kind of like, I can't put the [expletive] wig on again. It got weird. It just felt like...I was grown up."
She went on to explain how she knew she was portraying a falsity to her fans when “One time I went backstage at Disneyland, and Peter Pan was smoking a cigarette. And I was like, 'That's me. That's the kind of dreams I'm crushing. That's how everyone felt with the bong video, but I'm not a Disney mascot. I'm a person.”
Despite changing as a person, Cyrus admits she is “not ashamed” of her "Hanna Montana" past. She said, "It's pretty cool when you hear Cardi B was listening to Hannah Montana when she was in high school. "That [expletive] makes me happy."
Now, eight years since she played the kid star, Cyrus said she has gained “respect.” She told the magazine, “When I walk into a room, people may think, 'Okay, she gets her [expletive] out.' But they also think, 'But she’s got a [expletive] sick voice,' and that’s all I care about.”
Cyrus is slated to release a new album called, “She Is Miley Cyrus.”
