Mindy Kaling On Keeping Second Pregnancy A Secret: 'That Was Kind Of Easy'

Mindy Kaling said hiding her second pregnancy was not difficult because it happened during the lockdown.

"The Mindy Project" star spoke about her second pregnancy and how she kept it hidden. Kaling said she didn't have a hard time keeping it a secret despite being an OOTD queen because she was always at home.

"It was not too bad. I mean, clearly, I was not going anywhere, like everybody else, so nobody found me out," she told Elle.

"So that was kind of easy. And then just being at home and taking photos, I'd largely just kind of shot around my pregnancy. Shot myself from the waist up and then also wore baggy things. I never got super huge, so it was a little bit easier."

Kaling shocked her fans when she announced the arrival of her second baby, Spencer, in October when she appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

"I’m telling this for the first time, it feels so strange. I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3," she told Colbert.

"This is news to a lot of people. It’s true! … His name is Spencer. I forgot the most important part of it."

In the same interview with Elle, Kaling shared the funny side of welcoming a second baby.

"The difference between having a first child and a second child is so funny," she said.

"The first time it was like every person in my life came out of the woodwork to send gifts and cards and notes and emails. And then once you have a second kid, everyone's like, you're fine. You're okay. It's definitely more of a muted excitement from everyone in my life. Which, by the way, makes total sense, particularly during a pandemic."

She couldn't say much about her newborn son's personality because he is only seven weeks old. However, she said her daughter, Katherine, likes the fact that her younger sibling is a boy, because she is "a bit less competitive."

Kaling is single with two kids and she finds her status of being single "liberating." But she also mentioned that there was a time when she longs for a husband especially when she attends parties or when kids' books mention daddies.
