Minor Neighbor Allegedly Rapes 3-Month-Old Baby; Infant Remains In Critical Condition

A 3-month-old baby has been hospitalized with critical injuries after she was allegedly raped by a minor boy who lived in her neighborhood.

The incident reportedly took place in Etah, a village in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The police have filed charges of rape and sexual abuse of a minor against the 17-year-old unidentified suspect who fled after the incident and remains at large, reported The Times of India.

According to the criminal complaint, the infant's mother left her 3-month-old baby asleep on a cloth inside her house while she went out to tie her cattle. The woman then asked the children who were playing near her house to keep an eye on the infant until her return.

When the infant's mother got back home, she reportedly saw the baby crying profusely. The suspect was already there, trying to calm the baby down. The teen told the mother the baby had defecated and left the scene afterward.

However, while cleaning the infant, the mother saw the child bleeding from her private parts. It was only then that she realized the baby had been raped. The infant was rushed to a hospital where she remains in critical condition, Latest LY said in a report.

"Four teams have been tasked to arrest the boy. Further investigations are on," Raj Kumar Singh, a senior investigating officer, said as per the outlet.

Earlier this month, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a priest and three employees of a crematorium in India's capital city of Delhi. The girl was then cremated without her parents' consent. The incident reportedly took place when the girl, whose family lived near the crematorium, visited the facility to drink water from a cooler. Half an hour later, the suspects called the victim's mother to inform her that the girl had been electrocuted and asked her not to report the incident to the police as they would send her body for an autopsy where her organs would be stolen. After the parents alerted the police, the four suspects were arrested on charges of rape and murder.
