A 3-year-old girl in Uzbekistan was miraculously saved after being dropped into a bear enclosure at a zoo.

The unidentified toddler was rescued from a brown bear’s enclosure at the zoo in Tashkent after the child's mother threw her while standing on a viewing platform.

CCTV footage of the incident shared on social media shows the unidentified mother holding the child over the railings moments before throwing her into the bear's den. As the helpless visitors watch in horror, the toddler falls into a trench inside the cage, five meters down.

After throwing the baby, the mother could be seen staying on to watch, while the staff at the zoo rush to rescue her. Just when Zuzu, the male caucasian Brown Bear in the enclosure sniffs on the child, the staff members manage to lure the animal away, saving the girl, News.com.au reported.

The video also shows a staff carrying the child to safety while his colleagues lead the distracted animal to an inside part of the enclosure.

The toddler reportedly suffered a head injury and cuts from the fall and is being treated at a hospital. "Currently her state is normal, but she remains under constant observation," a spokeswoman at the zoo said.

"A young woman threw a little girl down into a brown bear's enclosure, in front of all the visitors. It was completely unclear what her motive was. Both the visitors and the staff of the zoo were trying to stop her - but failed," the spokeswoman said.

Though the child suffered injuries from the deep fall, she had no traces of wounds from the bear’s fangs or claws. "We are scared to even think how this would end if the bear were to react to the toddler as its prey," the spokeswoman added.

Cops registered a case against the child's mother on charges of attempted murder, according to reports. If convicted she would face 15 years in jail for the charges.

Last month, a 2-year-old girl was left critically injured after being mauled by a lion at a zoo in Yemen. The toddler was attacked after she put her hand inside the lion cage while her father was reportedly clicking photos of her next to the lion.
