Miss America Contestant Brenna Weick Shares Heartfelt Message For Atlantic City Police After Officer Shot Outside of Caesars Casino
Miss America contestant Brenna Weick took to twitter early Saturday to share a heartfelt message after an Atlantic City, New Jersey, police officer was shot outside of Caesars Atlantic City Casino. Weick, along with the other Miss America contestants, are in Atlantic City ahead of the 2017 “Miss America” pageant on Sept. 11.
“The @AtlanticCityPD has been protecting us all week,” Weick, who represents the state of New Jersey, tweeted. “Now it’s time for us to pray for them. Thank you for serving our community.”
As reported by NJ.com, an Atlantic City police officer was involved in a shootout at the Caesars Atlantic City Casino parking lot at approximately 3:30 a.m. The officer, who has not been named, as well as his partner, reportedly approached three suspicious men while in uniform in a marked car. A representative of the NJ Cop Shot program told the outlet that the officers came under “immediate” gunfire.
One officer was shot in the head and is in “very critical” condition, according to NBC Philadelphia. One suspect was fatally shot. Police are currently searching for the other two men involved in the shooting. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
