Miss California Alyssa Campanella crowned Miss USA

Alyssa Campanella, the 21-year-old auburn-haired beauty, left behind 50 other women to win the Miss USA title at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday night, June 19.She was representing California.

A model by profession, she won over the judges with her strut in a blue bikini with white polka dots and in a dark turquoise evening gown.

Campanella, has multiple beauty pageant titles, including 2007 Miss New Jersey Teen USA, first runner-up for 2007 Miss Teen USA, first runner-up for 2008 Miss New Jersey USA, Miss California USA in 2011, and now the Miss USA in 2011.

Residing currently in Los Angeles, when asked about legalizing marijuana during the final round, she said, I understand that medical marijuana is very important for those who need it legally. It's abused, but that's the only reason I'd be against it. I'm not sure legalizing it would have much of an effect on the drug war.

Former Miss USA 2011, Rima Fakih, who was the first Arab-American to hold the title, crowned Campanella as her successor on Sunday night. Campanella will represent the country in September at the Miss Universe 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
