Before Miss California became Miss USA 2011, Alyssa Campanella represented her home state of New Jersey in the 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant, where she was a runner-up.
The 21-year old beauty was born in Manalapan, New Jersey, and moved to Los Angeles after losing an apartment there.
Campanella, a natural blonde, told reporters she dyed her hair six years ago for a part in a play, for a fiery character. She and her redheaded character had traits in common, so she did not dye it back.
It's really brought out the true Alyssa Campanella, I feel, and that's why I really enjoy being a redhead, she said.
