High-end design houses creating budget-friendly lines is not a new phenomenon. Mass market retail chains have collaborated with countless designers to sell discounted brand name apparel worldwide. It is a win-win situation: High fashion designers get to extend their reach to an entirely different market, one that is frugal, for commercial success while chain stores like Target profit.

Most notably, Isaac Mizrahi was one of the first retailers to break the glass wall, once formerly barring fashionistas from highly-coveted designer threads, between high fashion designers and retailers when his discount collection debuted at Target in 2009.
