A 3-year-old girl who had been missing from her Texas home was rescued from a motel room almost 10 hours after her disappearance. The girl's alleged kidnapper who was found with her in the motel room has been arrested.

The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Holman Hernandez, was arrested Sunday in Houston after the cops found him in the bed with the girl. Hernandez was charged with aggravated kidnapping, ABC 13 reported.

According to court records, Hernandez allegedly lured the child into his car with a cat and took her to a motel just minutes away.

The investigation began after the girl's parents reported her missing from their apartment Saturday night. The parents who went to sleep at about 11 p.m. Saturday woke up at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday to realize that their daughter had disappeared. They found their apartment door wide open.

During a search of the neighborhood, a neighbor informed the officers that they saw the girl with the suspect. The officials then issued an Amber Alert to locate the child and Hernandez, who was believed to be traveling in a 2007 grey Nissan Xterra.

The officers eventually located Hernandez's car at the motel just a mile and a half from the apartment complex. The staff at the motel told them that the man had checked into a room at about 7:30 a.m.

"Officers approached the room and knocked on the door. The suspect didn't answer, and because of the age of the kid, officers forced entry into the unit. Once they got in, the kid was observed inside with the suspect," Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.

Hernandez put up a little bit of resistance before he was taken into custody, but no one was injured in the incident, police were cited as saying by the New York Post.

Investigators said they believe that there is no connection between the suspect and the victim and are investigating the incident.

The child was taken to a hospital for a medical examination and reunited with her parents. "I can't imagine what they are going through, with a few hours of not knowing where their little baby girl is. It's just tough. But we're so glad. Blessed. Thank God the baby is OK," Finner added.
