Missing 4-month-old Baby 'In Imminent Danger' Reunited With Mother; Father Arrested

The search for a missing 4-month-old baby believed to be in imminent danger came to an end after the infant was found with her father in Irving, Texas.

The father was arrested and charged in connection with the incident while the child was safely reunited with her mother Monday, officials said.

The search for 4-month-old Gianina Martinez began Monday after her 29-year-old father, Germey Martinez allegedly fled with her after assaulting and threatening the child's mother, NBC DFW reported.

Germey and the mother were inside their apartment on North MacArthur Boulevard when they began having an argument around 10 a.m. Monday. The father is accused of holding a knife to the victim's throat and making threats about killing her.

The pair were not arguing about the child's custody but were having some sort of domestic dispute, officials said.

The woman left the apartment and called the cops after Germey said he would murder her if she did not leave, according to CBS DFW.

Germey fled with Gianina after the woman left. The Irving Police Department was informed about the missing child and issued an Amber Alert.

"We are activating an Amber Alert for 4-mth-old Gianina Martinez, believed to be in imminent danger," the police department wrote on Twitter.

Officials said Germey is believed to have taken off with the child "after assaulting the victim ... " police added.

"The suspect may have been picked up by a friend driving a white Toyota Tundra truck, LP: 18939DV. If you have any info as to their whereabouts, call 911. The suspect is possibly armed, DO NOT attempt to make contact," the department continued.

The Amber Alert was canceled after Gianina was located with her father Monday afternoon.

The man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

"The child has been located, is safe & is in the process of being reunited with her family. The suspect was taken into custody without incident," the police department said in an update.

An unrelated incident was reported in October after a 6-year-old autistic boy was found safely in Canada after being kidnapped by his father and paternal grandmother. The child was last seen at his mother's Miami-Dade county home in August before his father and grandmother picked him up. The parents were reportedly involved in a custody dispute over the child.
