Colorado authorities have asked for the public’s help in the search for a woman who went missing over the weekend while on a bike ride.
Suzanne Morphew, 49, of Maysville, Colorado, has been missing since Sunday. A neighbor, whose name hasn’t been released, said Morphew went out for a bike ride around 5:30 p.m. near a local highway but didn’t return home.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office led initial search efforts Sunday. Police said search crews did not find evidence pointing to where Morphew could have gone. Chaffee County Search and Rescue teams and the local Department of Corrections were subsequently called in to aid in the search efforts and expand the search area faster.
By Monday morning, the search party consisted of over 100 personnel, along with dogs and drones scanning the expanding search zone. However, the group was still unsuccessful in locating Morphew or any evidence that could help in the search.
The Chaffee County and Mesa County tactical teams joined search efforts later in the day.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and is asking anyone with information about Morphew’s whereabouts to come forward.
