Missing Connecticut Mom Jennifer Dulos Update: Attorneys 'Wrangling' Over Fotis' Assets Following Death
On Jan. 30, Fotis Dulos was declared dead following an apparent suicide attempt at his Farmington home. Prior to his death, the Connecticut resident had been faced with murder and kidnapping charges pertaining to the May 24 disappearance of his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos. The newest charges had followed both Fotis and his one-time girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, also being charged with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution surrounding the investigation into the New Canaan mother of five's whereabouts.
Following his passing, which resulted from carbon monoxide poisoning, it appears as though attorneys representing Fotis and Jennifer's mother, Gloria Farber, are set to continue their legal battles in court for the foreseeable future.
According to local outlet the Hour, both parties are expected to speak via telephone sometime on Monday to begin sorting out the financial issues that still exist, which include two pending foreclosures and $2.5 million in lawsuits that have yet to reach a conclusion. Additionally, it was revealed that the two parties began "wrangling over his assets and estate" the day after he was found unresponsive at his residence.
It has been said that on Jan. 31, Hartford Superior Court Judge Cesar Noble decided to appoint Robert Guiffria, a real estate agent with Tea Leaf Realty, as a temporary receiver for Fotis' Jefferson Crossing residence. However, attorney Michael Habib, who is serving as the representation for Fotis in both foreclosures, reportedly objected to Guiffria's appointment. A motion has since been filed by the attorney stating that Habib owed Fotis money before his death.
This development came after a new search warrant was executed at Fotis' home and his attorney, Norm Pattis, stated that he intended to move forward in order to prove his client's innocence.
Leading up to Fotis' death, many had suspected he had played a role in Jennifer's disappearance. Not only had previously-released voicemails led to new suspicion, but he also recently faced new punishment from Judge Gary White due to the fact that he had allegedly dismantled a memorial for Jennifer. Additionally, a "new twist" had created unexpected questions about his alibi.
