A disturbing development was reported Thursday in the case of missing Florida teenager Destiny Rose. Shanna Champion, aunt of the 16-year-old who has been missing since Aug. 20, contacted police after receiving a chilling video call from her niece’s Instagram account.

In the video, Rose could be seen crying while tied to a chair with rope around her neck. Champion also spoke to an anonymous Hispanic man who was filming her niece in the chair.

“If you actually cared about her, you would be here to get her,” the man said prior to ending the call. The video was not saved.

Rose is described as a habitual runaway, according to the Miami Herald. She was last seen at the Alpha Group Home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, a town roughly 32 miles northwest of Miami on the eastern edge of the Everglades.

Rose is described as causation with green eyes and short blonde hair. She is 5-foot-1 and weighs 146 pounds. The man in the video call believed to be holding her captive was described by Champion as in his late 20’s or early 30’s, with crew-cut hair and small growth of facial hair on his chin.

Anyone with information pertaining to Rose’s case is asked to call the Davie Police at 954-693-8200, or the Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477.
