An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for a missing 3-year-old young boy in New Mexico after his mother was found dead in their house.
The Roswell Police Department issued the Amber Alert for Osiel Ernesto Rico, after police discovered the body of his mother Isela Mauricio-Sanchez, 27, in their home at 11:15 a.m. Police were called to Mauricio-Sanchez’s home by family members who found her body. Osiel Rico was later reported missing.
“Prior to today, there had been no missing person's report or anything,” Roswell Police Department public information officer Todd Wildermuth told reporters. “Until the deceased woman was discovered and we responded there, it was then following that investigation that we learned that she has a 3-year-old son that was missing.”
Police first classified Mauricio-Sanchez's death as suspicious before declaring it a potential homicide. Osiel is also considered to be in danger.
Investigators suspect Osiel is currently with his father Jorge Rico-Ruvira, 32, who is also considered a suspect in Mauricio-Sanchez’s death. He was last reportedly seen driving a maroon 2003 GMC Yukon with New Mexico license plates.
Osiel is listed at 2-foot-6 and 40 pounds, and has brown hair with brown eyes. Rico-Ruvira is 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 pounds, and has black hair with brown eyes.
The FBI is aiding local police in searching for Osiel and Rico-Ruvira. Authorities are also asking anyone with information about either’s whereabouts or Mauricio-Sanchez’s death to come forward.
