Missing Texas 2-Year-Old Girl: Amber Alert Called Off After Police Locate Jaya Trevino With Her Father Near San Antonio
The search for a 2-year-old San Antonio girl, who had reportedly been taken from her mother's home Monday, ended early Tuesday morning after she was found with her father.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jaya Ailani Trevino was found alongside her father, identified as 33-year-old Juan Alejandro Trevino, who was taken into custody. Jaya was reportedly unharmed but was held for evaluations as a precaution.
Jaya was originally taken from her home Monday night after her mother was allegedly assaulted by her father. The elder Trevino reportedly kicked down the house door and confronted his estranged wife with Jaya, allegedly threatening her life. It reportedly escalated to assault before Trevino grabbed his daughter and fled the house.
Trevino fled in a 2014 black Nissan Sentra with Texas license plates, which was found a short time later abandoned. An amber alert was issued shortly after the alleged abduction as authorities searched for the pair in the surrounding area.
Trevino is currently in police custody and is set to be transported to Bexar County Adult Detention Center while police continue to investigate the incident. It has not been announced what charges Trevino could be facing.
