MLB MVP Betting Odds: Who Will Win In The NL And AL In 2018?
The 2018 Major League Baseball season came to a close in October, with the Boston Red Sox being crowned champions once again. However, the league still has yet to name its American League and National League Most Valuable Players.
The prestigious awards will be handed out on Thursday afternoon, but Las Vegas already has ideas about who will win each, according to OddsShark.
Boston’s Mookie Betts is a minus-money favorite to win the AL MVP award, at -425 odds. He won the batting title with a .346 average and finished with 10.4 wins above replacement, the best individual mark in 14 years, according to MLB.com.
Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels is Vegas’s runner-up for AL MVP, at +450 odds. The annual MVP candidate hit 39 homers and 79 RBIs on a .312 batting average. In third place is Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians, at +800 odds. Ramirez also hit 39 home runs but piled on 105 RBIs and 8.0 wins above replacement.
In the National League, Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers is a minus-money favorite at -230 odds. The Brewers star is considered the favorite because of an astonishing .770 slugging rate after the All-Star break, on top of a league-best .326 batting average, per MLB.com.
Behind Yelich are the Chicago Cubs’ Javiar Baez at +230 odds and the Colorado Rockies’ Nolan Arenado at +850 odds. The young Cubs star put up excellent hitting numbers while starting games at three different defensive positions throughout the season, consistently playing well at each. Arenado, meanwhile, propelled the Rockies past the Wild Card round for the first time since 2009 with his NL-best 38 home runs.
