The start to the 2019 MLB season hasn't exactly gone as planned for some of the best teams in baseball. The defending champion Boston Red Sox (1-3) are at the bottom of the AL East with three losses in four games, and the New York Yankees (1-2) are barely ahead of them in the standings after an underwhelming opening weekend.

New York lost two out of three games at home against the Baltimore Orioles (2-1), who are predicted to be the worst team in the league. The Orioles lost 115 games last year.

None of last season's division winners in the AL are off to a good start. The Houston Astros (1-3) are also in last place, having lost three of four games. In the AL Central, the Cleveland Indians (1-2) are tied for last place with the Chicago White Sox (1-2).

The Astros, Indians, Red Sox and Yankees all made the 2018 playoffs.

The Seattle Mariners (5-1) have MLB’s best record. Seattle and the Oakland Athletics (3-3) have played more games than anyone because they started the season early in Japan. Seattle was expected to be among the league's worst teams after trading away some of the best players in the offseason.

It's a bit of a different story in the NL, where the favorites to reach the World Series are off to a hot start.

The Philadelphia Phillies (3-0) are the only undefeated team in baseball after sweeping the Atlanta Braves (0-3), who are baseball's only winless team. Bryce Harper hit two home runs in his first weekend with his new club.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (3-1) looked every bit like the team that's won two straight NL pennants. L.A. didn't simply win three out of four games against the Arizona Diamondbacks (1-3). The Dodgers outscored their division rivals by 20 runs in the four-game series.

The Dodgers hit 14 home runs, led by Cody Bellinger and his four homers. He's tied for the NL lead with Paul Goldschmidt and Christian Yelich.

Yelich has hit a home run in each game, following his MVP season. He has the Milwaukee Brewers (3-1) atop the NL Central in the early going.
