  • Stipe Miocic teases about possibly moving to ONE Championship
  • Arjan Bhullar is open to seeing Miocic move to the Asian promotion
  • Frustrations with the UFC could lead to Miocic checking out other organizations

ONE Championship asks fans from time to time which athletes it should sign next.

In a post on the promotion’s official Instagram page, ONE Championship asked the question again, and a familiar name showed up in the comments section.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic commented with a few emojis as if suggesting he was open to signing with the Asian organization.

Not surprisingly, it sparked immediate conversation among fans, albeit to mixed reception.

A fan account later commented, reminding Miocic that UFC president Dana White planned to put him up against the winner of a fight between current UFC heavyweight titleholder Francis Ngannou and top contender Derrick Lewis.

Miocic replied and showed his evident frustration with the current situation.

“@mmabettingclub I shouldn’t have to wait for a winner, I have the most heavyweight title defenses of all time… we’re 1:1 (Miocic and Ngannou) but DC got instant rematches and trilogies against me?” Miocic wrote.

There is no doubt Miocic is chasing after a third fight with Ngannou. With the direction the UFC is going, it doesn’t appear he’ll be getting what he wants anytime soon.

If Ngannou and Lewis throw down later this year, Miocic may have to wait until early to mid-2022 until he gets another crack at the heavyweight title.

One man who would unequivocally welcome Miocic to ONE Championship is Arjan Bhullar, the outfit's heavyweight kingpin.

The 35-year-old Indian brute parted ways with the UFC in 2019 and joined ONE Championship the same year.

He defeated former title challenger Mauro Cerilli in his promotional debut, earning himself a shot at then-reigning champion Brandon Vera.

Despite the seemingly insurmountable odds, Bhullar easily took care of business against Vera last May to capture the belt.

On Instagram, Bhullar took the time to respond to Miocic’s comments, even suggesting company head honcho Chatri Sityodtong pull off another blockbuster trade.

“@stipemiocic I see you. Nothing to think about get your ass out here. I bust you up everywhere and finish the job for my big brother DC. #WeAreAKA Bossman @yodchatri let’s do a trade,” Bhullar replied on Instagram.

ONE Championship made headlines in late 2018 when it had announced that it was trading Ben Askren to the UFC in exchange for Demetrious Johnson.

Because Miocic is still under contract with the UFC, it’s unlikely he signs with ONE Championship unless another trade happens.

It’s more likely Miocic was just having a little fun on social media.

Then again, Miocic’s disappointment with how his situation is being handled is evident, and it could fester.

Needless to say, it casts further doubts on Miocic’s immediate future.
