  • Cris Cyborg slammed PFL founder Donn Davis for his apparent jab at her performance at Bellator 279
  • Cyborg said she will not fight for a promoter who was "biased" against her
  • Davis continues to find ways to keep the PFL afloat despite the presence of multiple popular fighters

Cris Cyborg is coming off a unanimous decision win over Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 279, which marks the Brazilian-American’s 29th mixed martial arts career win.

"Thanks to Arlene for the nice battle tonight," Cyborg, 36, was quoted as saying by Sherdog following the match. "I'm just happy for the decision."

Those who know Cyborg well are aware that she can dominate anyone and finish them off quickly. But Blencowe is no ordinary opponent and is considered one of the toughest fighters in all of women’s MMA.

The Australian gave a good account of herself and hinted that she was ready for more. Being able to go the full route and avoid a knockout or submission against Cyborg is already an achievement.

Hence, it could explain the comments made by Professional Fighters League (PFL) founder Donn Davis Sunday.

Davis tried to stir up some hype for a potential match between Kayla Harrison of the PFL and Cyborg of Bellator, tweeting: “After @criscyborg last night … closer than it should have been decision victory … who do you think wins future Kayla v. Cyborg super fight when it happens?”

The apparent slight in his comment did not sit well with Cyborg, who quickly fired back at Davis.

“'Closer than it should have been'—why would I want to work for a promoter who is already biased against me? It was a great fight last night. Let me enjoy it,” she responded to his tweet.

The efforts of Davis in possibly trying to create a rare showdown between Harrison and Cyborg may have gotten a huge setback. With the Brazilian-American taking exception, the PFL chairman may have to find another opponent for 31-year-old Harrison.

The PFL has been going through a rough patch in recent months, and the swipe at Cyborg is unlikely to help in keeping the promotion afloat, Fansided pointed out.

The PFL has invested in notable names such as Claressa Shields, Rory MacDonald and Fabricio Werdum, but somehow the move has fallen short of meeting expectations.
