MMA News: Filipino UFC Veteran Reveals His Ace Ahead Of BRAVE CF 56 Main Event
KEY POINTS
- Rolando Dy bares that he hired a strength and conditioning coach to better prepare him for his next fight
- Dy's championship window is slowly closing as he creeps to the wrong side of 30
- Slobodan Maksimovic is riding a two-fight win streak into their fight, but Dy is not worried about it at all
Filipino standout Rolando Dy revealed that he made some changes to his training camp, which he hopes will turn into a favorable outcome when he faces hometown hero Slobodan Maksimovic at BRAVE CF 56 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Taking the lessons he gleaned in his loss to Kyrgyz contender Abdisalam Kubanychbek last March, Dy feels that he is more than ready to get back to his winning ways.
“I think I could have done better, but looking back, I think it’s what I needed. It was a tough loss, but at the same time, it’s an eye-opener. I picked up a good number of lessons from that experience alone,” he said of the deflating defeat to Kubanychbek.
Since then, Dy added another person to his camp in the form of strength and conditioning coach Marlon Emanel.
The 30-year-old Filipino feels that it was the right move for him since it forces his body to work with him better in the hopes of producing another stellar performance against Maksimovic.
“Truth be told, I’m not getting any younger. In this physically-taxing sport, a fighter needs to preserve his or her body. By hiring a strength and conditioning trainer, I know my coach will help me extend my shelf life as a fighter,” Dy remarked.
Understandably, Dy may be feeling the pressure as his window to winning a title under BRAVE CF is slowly closing due to his age.
The 32-year-old Maksimovic is riding a wave of momentum thanks to a two-fight win streak when he faces the heavy-handed Filipino, but Dy does not plan on allowing it to hinder his goal of putting on a show in Maksimovic’s backyard.
“Beating Slobodan Maksimovic will definitely put me in a better place in the division. It’s no secret that I want to fight for the title. Getting that win on December 18 will kick-start my run to the top,” he shared.
BRAVE CF 56 will be happening on Saturday, December 18 at the state-of-the-art Belexpocentar in Belgrade, Serbia.
