Jorge Masvidal may have just dug himself into a deep hole after his alleged assault on Colby Covington in Miami, Florida.

Multiple mixed martial arts (MMA) outlets reported that Masvidal had gone after Covington when the latter was on a night out with his friends, and it has now become apparent that the former may face possible felony battery charges for his actions.

TMZ Sports released footage of Masvidal supposedly being held back from Covington after attacking him and the latter talking to the police while bewilderedly asking Bob Menery from the YouTube group “The Nelk Boys” how his former teammate knew where he was.

MMA Junkie had acquired a copy of the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) report on the altercation with Covington’s name being redacted from it since he was the victim and Masvidal’s was explicitly stated due to his status as the culprit.

Masvidal’s intentions for attacking Covington became apparent in a now-deleted 10-second Twitter video that the inaugural UFC “BMF” Champion posted.

“I’m calling this the ‘show your face challenge’. I’m from Dade County. You talk that [expletive], you’ve got to back it up. That’s how my city rolls.” said Masvidal in the video that was reposted by a different Twitter user.

Masvidal then followed it up with a simple message that subtweeted Covington.

Covington apparently suffered a broken tooth and a wrist abrasion from the attack, with Masvidal supposedly running up to him and punching him twice in the face and the latter purportedly yelling out that the former “should not have been talking about his kids.”

Malki Kawa of First Round Management, Masvidal’s manager, tweeted out before the video became public that he had heard about a certain someone losing his tooth and was asking for confirmation about the incident.

His brother and business partner, Ibrahim Kawa, then declared that “you got to be from DADE county to understand.”

Internet sleuths started putting it together and completed the puzzle thanks to the information put out by MMA outlets.

Covington defeated Masvidal by unanimous decision over their five-round main event war earlier this month at UFC 272.
